American infrastructure was once the envy of the world. The 19th century saw the development of the nation’s great railroads, including the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. The 20th century was associated with extensive highway construction, helping to further bind this nation.
