A CFMA member, who has accomplished specific achievements either in finance or for their company. We're looking for people under the age of 40 with a strong record of innovation, outstanding performance, and a clear track record of meaningful involvement within CFMA and the construction industry.
No, self-nominations will not be considered.
Yes. However, multiple nominations for the same person do not enhance the nominee’s chances of being selected as an honoree.
This is a chance to honor a subordinate, peer, mentee, or even a mentor. This is also an opportunity to share an inspiring story of success with others. If you know a CFMA member who serves as an example to others, this is your chance to help share that person’s story with a larger audience.
The nominations are sent to a judging panel made up of CFMA volunteer leaders, past honorees and CFMA HQ staff. The panel goes through these nominations with a fine-toothed comb and debates the merits of the candidates, weighing their achievements until they find the rising stars for the year.
The time you put into the nomination will be important in helping the judges understand why your nominee should be chosen.
While the best nominations are clear, concise, and complete, you should focus on using concrete examples and personal stories to persuade the judges that the nominee has made a mark on your company, chapter, committee, or industry.
The honorees will be featured in the July/Aug issue of "CFMA Building Profits" magazine, CFMA’s Monthly e-newsletter Bottom Lines, at CFMA’s Annual Conference, as well as on CFMA’s social media channels.

You can nominate as many CFMA members, under the age of 40, as you’d like.
Yes. When notified of the honor we will inform the nominee of who nominated them and the nominator will be cc’d on the email.
Absolutely. There are several reasons nominees might not get selected including that the judges consider their achievements not yet proven. An additional year may have made them a better candidate.
When you’re a rising star, you're a rising star for life. If you have been a successful rising star in the past you are not eligible to be featured in the rising star program again.
Our judges look for nominees who have achievements in their company, within CFMA, and in the industry. Measurable achievements should be included, such as increasing profits, awards from CFMA or their Chapter, volunteer activity, and professional development like earning a CCIFP. However, we know that many achievements aren’t easily quantified or previously acknowledged, so give us as much detail as you can.
You will be contacted by CFMA’s marketing team to get a high-resolution headshot and quote, these will be due by March 23, 2023.
Yes — but not until the information is released in July. We know that if you are selected you will be excited and we don’t expect you to keep your selection as a rising star a secret, but we want the announcement of the list to be a surprise, so please refrain from advertising your selection to the rising stars in any form, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
