The CFMA of MA is excited to be joined by Dustin Bass and Scott Duncan of BaseRock Partners for an informative presentation and discussion on Ownership Succession.  This is an extremely important topic for all construction companies and we hope to see you there!  Dustin and Scott will discuss what drives salability and value in construction, what are buyers seeing in today’s market, why are ESOPs growing in popularity and what makes a company a strong ESOP candidate, and lastly will provide an overview of the common techniques utilized to transfer equity internally.

Dustin Bass – Co-founder and Partner

Dustin is a construction industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience serving construction firms in both an operational and advisory capacity.  Prior to cofounding BaseRock Partners, Dustin was a managing director at FMI Corporation, where he led the company’s business development efforts and served as management consultant on strategy, operational, and complex projects. Mr. Bass maintains extensive operational experience, having served as a Vice President at Lathan Company and W.G. Yates Construction where he pursued and procured federal government construction projects in both the United States and internationally. 

 

Dustin serves on the Association of General Contractor’s (AGC) Service and Supply Council, as an advisor to AGC of Colorado’s Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee at University of Colorado Boulder’s Construction Engineering Management Advisory Board.   

 

Mr. Bass holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Business and a Master of Science in Building Construction from the University of Florida and Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. 

Dustin currently resides in Castle Rock, Colorado with his wife Nancy, son Jackson Story and daughter Lilly Katherine.

 

Scott Duncan – Co-founder and Partner

Scott is a co-founder and partner of BaseRock Partners.  Scott brings more than 20 years of financial advisory experience to BaseRock, including 15 focused exclusively on construction and construction materials M&A transactions.  Prior to cofounding BaseRock, Scott was a Managing Director at FMI Capital Advisors, where he co-managed the company’s construction materials group. Prior to FMI, Scott led corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions for Lafarge North America (now LafargeHolcim) in the Western United States.  

 

Scott’s transaction experience spans all types of construction industry clients, including general building contractors, heavy civil contractors, and a wide variety of specialty contractors.  Scott also maintains extensive transaction expertise in construction materials markets (cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, hot-mix asphalt, and integrated paving firms).

 

Mr. Duncan is a frequent speaker at construction industry events on financial trends, mergers and acquisitions activity, valuation, and internal stock transfer planning.  He holds a Bachelor of the Arts degree from Denison University and a Master of Business Administration from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.

Scott resides in Broomfield, Colorado with his wife Tracey and sons William and Jack.
