Recent honoree of CFMA’s 40 Under 40 Awards, and Director of Field Accounting at Austin Industries in Dallas, TX, Steven K. Spradlin sat down with CFMA to talk and here are 10 interesting facts he shared with us:  

Q: What is your favorite thing in your office?
A: My favorite thing in my office is the additional PC monitors. They are necessary to be fully productive now in my opinion.
 

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?
A: My guilty pleasure is watching stand-up comedy. There are so many specials now provided by streaming services. It is always good to laugh and it also relieves some stress.

Q: What’s your favorite app?
A: Microsoft Teams has become my favorite app and is an indispensable way to better connect to all of our construction sites.
 

Q: Do you have any regrets?
A: I absolutely have regrets but none of them have been large enough to have a negative impact on my life overall. Boring or perfect people have no regrets, and I’m neither.
 

Q: What’s your favorite holiday to celebrate?
A: My favorite holiday to celebrate is Thanksgiving — football (go Cowboys), food, and family, in no particular order.
 

Q: What energizes you at work?
A: Seeing a broken process or identifying problems that need to be solved energizes me at work.
 

Q: When did you become a CFMA member?
A: I became a CFMA member in 2018 and have since enjoyed the DFW chapter’s educational lunches, as well as the couple of regional and national conferences that I have had the opportunity to participate in.
 

Q: What do you do to unwind from work?
A: My wife and I both like to cook together after we get home from work to unwind.
 

Q: Where did you grow up at?
A: I was born and raised in Arlington, Texas, and I am a proud Texan currently living in Dallas.
 

Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was delivering medical mobility equipment while attending college at UT Arlington.
