2022 Virginia Employment Law Update

Learning Objectives

The presentation will provide an update on recent federal and state changes to the legal landscape of labor and employment law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Attendees can expect a discussion on the following topics, with a focus on the impact for the construction and banking industries:

1.      Changes to the Virginia Human Rights Act, Va. Code §§ 2.2-3900 et seq.

2.      New prohibitions on covenants not to compete in employment agreements with certain workers, Va. Code § 40.1-28.7:8

3.      The new Virginia Fraud and Abuse Whistleblower Protection Act, Va. Code § 40.1-27.3

4.      The new Virginia Wage Payment Act and the Virginia Overtime Wage Act; Va. Code §§ 40.1-28.10, 40.1-29.2
