Ryan Howsam

Ryan Howsam, a former Principal with FMI leading the Risk Management Discipline, works across many disciplines with specializations in risk management services and strategic planning and led a number of GC and Electrical FMI Peer Groups. He delivers assessments and drives implementation on all aspects of contractors’ risk management function including, but not limited to, enterprise risk management, project risk assessment, rolling contractor controlled insurance programs and subcontractor default insurance. Working with a variety of construction firms and projects of all size, his focus couples a risk management view with financial management, business evaluations, strategic planning, marketing and business development, human resources development, and productivity improvement to enhance profitability.

Ryan is a Certified Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) and a LEED Accredited Professional in building design and construction with more than 20 years of experience within the real estate and construction industry. He is a sought after speaker and his articles have been published in the Construction Executive, CFMA Building Profits Magazine, and was a regular contributor to the FMI Quarterly. Prior to joining FMI, Ryan worked in the club and resort development arena in Telluride, Colo., as well as in the construction fields of concrete, framing and roofing in the Rocky Mountains.
