Maple Grove Elementary Project Spotlight

The Cedar Rapids Community School District staff and students are excited for the new Maple Grove Elementary to open. They are watching it take shape each day from Jackson Elementary, which will be replaced in August 2022. The old school will be torn down to make room for a new parking lot.

The new school is a two-story, 91,990 sf structure. The foundation sits on more than 450 vibratory stone columns. It’s being built with a load-bearing masonry and steel structure with metal deck. It will feature a brick and metal panel exterior façade, with a precast gymnasium. A unique feature of Maple Grove is that one entire wing is a storm shelter with storm-proof windows and a concrete roof.

Representatives from Rinderknecht will provide a jobsite tour of Maple Grove Elementary which is the new school replacing Jackson Elementary.  

Close-toed shoes will be required.
