John Koskinen is the Chief Economist for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.  He has served in that capacity for the administrations of Governors Evers, Walker, and Doyle.

John is a recognized commentator on the Wisconsin economy.  He has been cited in the media throughout the state and the country.  He has testified on the Wisconsin economy before several standing committees of the state legislature.  He has presented on Wisconsin economic outlook to the diverse groups around the state including rating agencies, investor groups, state and regional economic development associations, colleges and universities, financial institutions, trade associations, and employers. 

 For 2021, Vistage International recognized John as one of their top presenters worldwide, one of one six speakers in the finance subject area.  

 John has served as the Staff Economist for the Governor's Budget Office, Wisconsin Department of Administration from 1979 to 2007.  He started his professional career at the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau. 

John has his B.A. and M.S. in Applied Economics from Marquette University.  He has done additional graduate studies in Economics at Northwestern University and computer science at the University of Wisconsin.
